Swollen heart

Every once in a while I get a chance to actually "see" my kids. I'm around them constantly, but I'm often distracted by trying to fulfill their basic needs that I miss out on what's going on. Today, we were in our way home from getting groceries and I looked back and saw Laura and Sam holding hands. My heart swelled.

Editor's note: Eric was driving. Heather was not taking pictures while trying to fulfill the children's basic need of avoiding car accidents.

Instruction Manual

After putting Sam to bed, I came down the stairs and found this...

Apparently, Laura got the gene for reading instruction manuals like her daddy.

The finest compliment...

It's a too cold for school day, but that didn't stop me from taking the kids out. Laura got a haircut and we went to the in door playground to jump around and slide down inflatable slides. I decided that  I would play too (I did look at the weight limit on the equipment and I was in the clear.)
While we were getting drinks at the drinking fountain (we were playing pretty hard) a young woman who obviously was there babysitting 3 kids asked if I was the kids' nanny. I told her I was their mom and she said that I just seemed too fun to be a mom. That was just about the finest compliment I could get. "Thank you, I try!" I said.
Laura's pretty proud of her "bob".
Sam pulled down his own pants and got in the changing position. Do you think we should start potty training?

Winter Break

Dear Winter Break,
You never cease to amaze me with your delicious treats, much needed time with family, and your  ability to make time travel at warp speed (except when we're traveling, of course).  You will be missed dearly.

Until next year,
Heather

Laura helps Sam open a present on Christmas morning.

She's still helping.

Sam detests receiving help with present unwrapping.

Still crying about it.

Sam got a bin full of popcorn kernals. Good thing Santa brought a Roomba too!

Grandma and Laura attempted a gingerbread carousel. Total disaster!

Laura got a Sleeping Beauty dress!

We had the Boyd cousins over for a play day. We made snow paint.

After the  snow paint, we played in the real stuff.
I don't think Molly saw anything during the sledding adventure.

Homemade pizzas on New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve included Family Minute to Win It games. Laura is turning Daddy into a snowman.

I love this man.

Making snowmen with mini marshmallows.

Snowball toss.

It took Sam awhile to figure this one out.

Eventually he got it.
